Canon Goddy Muhanguzi Muhumuza

Canon Goddy Muhanguzi Muhumuza assumed office as Interim Executive of EACREEE on 1^st October 2021. Prior to this appointment, he has been working as the Interim Company Secretary, EACREEE and Ag. Manager, Intellectual Property Management (IPM@Mak) Office & Principal Legal Officer, Makerere University. He has been instrumental in the establishment of EACREEE. Following the mandating of Makerere University to be the Trustee of EACREEE and designation of CEDAT as the Centre of Excellence for EACREEE, he was assigned the role of drafting and processing all the relevant Legal Documents, coordinating the registration of EACREEE and ensuring that it attains a Legal Status.

Canon Goddy Muhanguzi Muhumuza started his service as a Legal Officer in 2005 and by 2015 had risen to the rank of Senior Legal officer and was tasked to establish a University Directorate of Legal Affairs- and by 2017, Principal Legal Officer and Acting Director of Legal Affairs, Makerere University. In 2020, he was assigned to establish an Intellectual Property Management Office for Makerere University-where he is currently the Ag. Manager. He also served as Lecturer at Uganda Christian University, Professional Adviser- Law Development Centre (LDC); Assistant Lecturer, Accounting I&II and Management and Examiner (NCBS) and is a Board Member to various Boards.

Canon Goddy Muhanguzi Muhumuza has over 15 years’ experience in Management, Legal Advisory and Practice and he is a court accredited mediator. He is the Legal Advisor and Chairperson Legal & Disciplinary Committee, Federation of All Africa Sports Union (FASU). He has attended various workshops/meetings/seminars on Renewable Energy both at National and International Level, and is conversant with compilation of national reports and good at international negotiations. He is the Interim Company Secretary, East African Centre of Excellence for Renewable Energy and Efficiency (EACREEE), Board Member and Legal Advisor, Africa Institute for Strategic Resource Services and Development (AFRISA), Board Member, Makerere Innovation and Incubation Center (MIIC), Board Member and Legal Advisor, Makerere University Centre for Health and Population Research Ltd (MUCHAP) and, Board Member and Legal Advisor, East African Centre of Excellence for Renewable Energy and Efficiency (EACREEE).

Canon Goddy Muhanguzi Muhumuza holds a Master of Laws from Makerere University; Diploma in legal Practice (LDC); Bachelor of Laws (Second Class with Honors, UPPER DIVISION) from Makerere University; Diploma in Business Studies (UDBS) National College of Business Studies; and various International Certificates including:- Certificate of completion of International Training in Genetic Resources and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)-Bangkok, Thailand; Certificate of Advanced International Training in Genetic Resources and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) - Upsala, Sweden; Certificate in Research Administration and Mentorship Support Grants - MESAU MEPI,           USA; Certificate in for completion of a month seminar in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) – China; Certificate of attendance and participation in Common Wealth Lawyers Association Conference-Sydney, Australia; Certificate in Court Connected Mediation- High Court, Family Division, Uganda; Certificate of attendance and participation in CLA- Conference- Hyderabad, India; Certificate in Intellectual Property Rights Development for Developing Countries, China and, Certificate in Corporate Governance for Competitiveness and Sustainability, Uganda.
