Putting a gender lens on EELA

Event Date:
Wednesday, November 11, 2020

The webinar will focus on the status of gender on energy efficient lighting and appliances in SADC and EAC regions. Women, youth, people with disabilities, etc are usually affected by indoor air pollution and unemployment. Men tend to dominate the most economic activities and leave the rest behind especially in developing countries. Considering cooking, the women and youth in developing countries take a long time to collect firewood for cooking which would have been used in carrying out other economic activities.

The challenges faced by women, youth, people with disabilities, etc will be highlighted and solutions to address the challenges presented. For widespread dissemination and adoption of energy efficient appliances, all stakeholders including women and youth should be involved.
