EACREEE SIDE EVENT MOP37

Event Date:
Saturday, November 1, 2025 to Monday, November 3, 2025

EACREEE is pleased to announce two key events in Nairobi, Kenya, to accelerate the adoption and implementation of energy-efficient and climate-friendly cooling appliances in the East African Community region. The event is organised in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme’s United for Efficiency (UNEP-U4E) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) alongside the Thirty-Seventh Meeting of the Parties (MOP37) to the Montreal Protocol. It will bring together policymakers, regulators, technical experts and development partners to advocate harmonised Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) for cooling appliances in the region.

The Side Event on Scaling Up Energy-Efficient Cooling Appliances in Africa: Pathways, Policies and Partnerships for National MEPS Adoption is scheduled for November 1, 2025, in UNON Compound, Nairobi, Kenya, from 9 am to 4 pm (EAT), bringing together government representatives, technical experts and development partners to strengthen national efforts to adopt regional MEPS for air conditioners and refrigerators in the EAC region.

The Side Event, themed “From Global Tools to Regional and National Action: Harmonising Energy-Efficient Cooling Regulations in Africa and Beyond,” on November 3, 2025, in the UNON Compound, Nairobi, Kenya, from 1 pm to 3 pm (EAT)  will bring together policymakers, regulators, and technical experts to explore how regional harmonisation drives national action on sustainable cooling.
